We had cavity wall insulation installed into our 5 bed house and the service from AM Energy was superb. From the initial site survey to the actual installation these guys did a fantastic job. Polite, knowledgeable and tidy. Even the holes drilled to feed the insulation in are virtually invisible. Great job. Thoroughly recommended. Very professional. Reassured that our house will now be warmer over winter.
Have to say apprehensive at first as cold callers at my door never bring out my best side and this has been the 6th person to knock on my door about cavity Wall Insulation in as many months! However, the gentleman from A&M was very polite & seemed to know his stuff so I took the plunge and booked a survey. The surveyor was very helpful, explaining the whole process and checking all my walls with a very clever camera.
The fitters turned up bright & breezy 2 weeks later and were remarkably efficient & tidy (thank you Dan & Dan) and were finished before lunchtime.
Now waiting for the benefits this coming winter! Hopefully £31 well spent.
My only gripe is why didn't the government or my energy supplier tell me about this?
Had an assessment/survey carried out and was told the property qualified for free insulation, booked in the appointment for the installation the following week and all seemed well.
The date arrived, the installation team who came said it was going to be a bigger job than they thought and they would need their manager to review it and then left.
Spoke to their manager the following day, he said there wasn't an issue and booked in a second date for the install. The appointment was booked in for 3pm and the install team arrived at 4:30pm without a courtesy call and then proceeded to tell me that they wouldn't have enough time to finish the job so didn't want to start it and left.
3rd date booked in - was called the day before saying the appointment was double booked so they cancelled on me.
4th date booked in - cancelled on me again saying their surveyor had been sacked for fraud and I would need another assessment.

After a door to door sales call decided to have my house checked out to see if we had any insulation in the walls. To be honest as my property was built in 1990's I was under the impression it was. The surveyor came out from the Southampton branch and checked all the walls and sure enough there was no insulation. I was then waiting for the sales pitch and to be hit with a quote for thousands. The survey then said he could get the property insulated for a small contribution. He went on to explain the energy companies would pay for the majority of it. I decided to crack on and half expecting to be hit with a bigger bill at some point. The lads came out a few weeks later to carry out the installation. A couple of really friendly guys who liked a cup of tea ! But they did a great job and I cannot tell where they injected the stuff.I was still half expecting some made up extras to bump up the price but sure enough all I had to pay was £91 which is what the surveyor said.
I had my house insulated by The Southampton Branch of A&M. They did a really good job, the process was pretty painless. I was always skeptical in the past and have turned down lots of approaches from salesmen. I was of the opinion that there would be lots of disruption but it only took 4 hours to complete my 4 bedroom property. The lads left the site clean and tidy and even cleaned my windows. The company reps were very professional throughout. I would defo recommend having your house insulated by A&M.
Started off ok and went downhill from there. They turned up as and when they wanted. A job which should have taken 2 weeks went on for 5. Only half a week had poor weather. A & M Cardiff decided to send their workers on other projects instead of finishing ours. They lied, found excuses and made false promises. We lost precious work days, lost money, waiting at home for them not to turn up.
Sometimes they'd get in touch, most times they wouldn't. They'd ignore most of your communications when they couldn't be bothered to respond. It's hit and miss.
They were our very last choice, but went with them for our Green Deal voucher. Big mistake. I should have paid full price and gone with proper professionals.
Communication!!! When will "wanna be professionals" ever learn.
I contacted A and M in November 2013 for a green deal assessment and they failed to turn up on the agreed date. I phoned and complained and managed to speak to the one person in the company who was in the least bit helpful. He came out the next day and was indeed very helpful. That's where the positives about A and M end, unfortunately.
I was contacted by the central heating dept at A and M to quote for my central heating installation after discussing this with the green deal advisor. Someone came out, measured up and then to all intents and purposes vanished without a trace. I phoned after two weeks and was told they were very busy and would contact me when they had the quote completed.
Fast forward 8 weeks - I still haven't heard anything so decide to contact A and M. I'm told there is no one available and they will ring me back, but never do. I contact them again the next day and am told I'll have a quote emailed to me the same day. No email ever arrives. I phone again the next day to see where things are upto and am told the person 'needs to speak to a manager, which will be this afternoon for definite' and they will phone me back. They never do. I'm starting to suspect A and M don't have any outgoing phones! I phone the next day, speaking to quite a rude advisor and am told that unless I know the name of the person who came to do the central heating quote, they can't find it. My name, address and date of the visit aren't enough information to locate my quote. I'm then told to hold on and they would phone me back after making enquiries. This time I actually do get a phone call, but it isn't great news. I'm told that A and M aren't very competitive and that the quote is likely to be expensive. I'm OK with this, I just want my quote!! I'm then told that the person I'm speaking to needs to speak to a company director before they can give me a quote. Seem's overkill to me, but what do I know? I'll be phoned back.. I never am though!
A week later I contacted A and M again to see where things are upto, this time through the contact form on their website hoping that this might be a more efficient way to speak with them but the email is ignored. Finally, a week and a half after my last phone call I phone them back. The person I speak with this time tells me that the person who came to my home has since left the company and that they 'wouldn't keep paperwork around the office for two months!' she tells me a rough figure for the installation, stressing that it would definitely be in excess of this and then asks if I want to proceed with the installation, and if I do they'll need to get another survey done. I'm now beyond exasperated with the whole thing. I honestly don't know how these clowns are in business but they will certainly never touch so much as a brick on my property.
I was very worried about having cavity wall insulation installed, my husband was always against it, mostly due to the cost. A nice gentleman knocked on my door and told me the energy companies would pay most of the cost. I didn't believe him but after extensive research I found this to be true. The surveyor turned up a few days later looking bright and breezy and full of jokes ( although I have to say not very funny ones. He concluded the house was suitable. Two weeks later the fitters completed the job. They were neat and tidy and very polite. I have to say I was rather impressed with the whole process. Thanks guys
4 times we waited in for this company to turn up for cavity wall insulation ,on 4 seperate days they let us down. 1st excuse was staff off sick, 2nd other jobs taking too long, 3rd exuse man came around at wrong time stating first job took too long so won't be starting ours but would return next day-guess what no show. When called company they stated we were not in diary for that day and installer who was to start job was off sick. Now have another company for the job. speaking to other people there seems to be a theme developing. Poor way of running a business a&m insulations - avoid!
Pretty much ruined our house. Installed cavity wall insulation that caused damp, mould and condensation. Later removed after independent report said property should have never had it installed. Never once replied to letter of complaint throughout 7 months of writing to them. They later settled out of court. Be very careful of these people.
